We are a Volunteer Centre and registered charity (no. 284288). We provide a brokerage service for potential volunteers and organisations requiring volunteer help.
Our brokerage service provides support to people with mental health issues, learning difficulties, ex offenders, and others with extra support needs across Medway.
We also provide direct services of transport, befriending and lunch club for elderly and less able people.
We work closely with the local authority and voluntary and community groups to promote good practice,
volunteer opportunity development, strategic development, marketing, policy response and campaigning as our core functions.
History of Hands Rochester Volunteer Centre
Hands was established in 1969 to provide volunteer helpers to the local community and mainly covers the large urban/rural areas
of Rochester, Chatham, Strood and surrounding districts.
In 1982 the organisation took on the role of Volunteer Bureau and in July 2010 members voted to change our name to
Hands Rochester Volunteer Centre.
Hands Rochester Volunteer Centre manages the following projects: Transport scheme, Befriending/Visiting scheme, Supported Volunteers, Lunch Club and the recruitment of volunteers for charitable and not for profit organisations.
Volunteering is open to all and we assist people aged 18 and over to find suitable and rewarding volunteering work.

If you are an organisation and have used our brokerage service please feel free to take our survey:
